2023 SPRING HLL CHALLENGER DIVISION

The Challenger Division is a new program to Hopkinton Little League in it's third season for 2023.

Any individual with a physical or intellectual challenge may participate. The Little League Challenger Division accommodates players ages 4-18, or up to age 22 if still enrolled in school.

We focus on general skills, team building and fundamentals. Everyone takes a turn at bat, advances the bases, and plays in the field. Players are supported by a Challenger team coach, program volunteers and will be paired up 1-2 with Buddies for practices/games. Our biggest goal is fun! It's also great way to enjoy the Spring season, meet new people and play some ball.

Registration is free to players and the program is supported by HLL sponsors and volunteers.

*We welcome players from neighboring towns who would like to participate.

Schedule:

Practices/games are a combined 1.5 hrs, typically played on Saturday afternoons on Carrigan Field 1 in Hopkinton, MA. The field offers easy access that is fully enclosed.

Typically 6-8 games/practices are played in the season starting in early May thru June. There will be no practice/games Memorial Day weekend.

The schedule will be communicated prior to the start of the season.

What you'll need:

All players will be provided jerseys and hats.

Players will need to bring a baseball/softball glove, baseball/softball pants (any athletic pants are fine), non-metal cleats or athletic shoes with good traction, and a water bottle. The league will supply equipment, bats and helmets.

CHALLENGER BUDDY PROGRAM

Unique to this division is the Buddy Program, where a Challenger player partners with a buddy (or two) between the ages of 12-18+ and has either been playing in Little League softball or baseball or continuing to play for High School and other teams.

Consistent attendance is critical for the Buddy program. We understand there are unavoidable conflicts and things come up, however we do require Buddies to be able to commit to at least half of the scheduled games/practices.

If you are interested in becoming a Buddy for this Spring 2022 season please email Carrie Rych, HLL VP Challenger Program at
